When Hope First Appeared at my Doorsteps
“When Hope First Appeared at my Doorsteps” – by Cara Jin
A strange knocking on my door awoke me from
a deep slumber. Groggily, I walked to the front of
the house and opened the door. Standing at the
doorway was no one. As I shut the door, something
came in the doorway. A white mist swirled around the
room and started to ascend the spiraling staircase.
It wanted me to follow it. I was afraid of it and glued
myself to the door.
But it kept beckoning me to follow it.
It led me to my room and knocked a picture off of
my bookshelf. It was a picture of me as a child, smiling
happily as if nothing in the world was wrong.
With a poof, the white mist vanished. Before it went,
It spelled out “H-O-P-E” in the form of a cloud.
I picked up the picture and smiled back at myself.
That was the day when hope first appeared at my doorsteps.
